Youcef Soufi received a B.Sc. degree and PhD degrees from the University of Annaba, Algeria, in 1991 and 2012 respectively, and a Magister degree in 1997 in Electrical Engineering from Tebessa University. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Echahid Larbi Tebessi University. He has published more than 200 papers in journals and conferences, served on editorial boards, supervised numerous PhD students, and participated as plenary/keynote speaker, steering committee member, and session chair in several national and international conferences.

Artificial intelligence in electrical engineering, electrical machines control, diagnostics, wind and solar energy, power electronics and drives, renewable energy devices, Smart Grid, reliability and diagnostics in power electronics converters and electrical machines.

Abstract: Smart Grid is now the buzzword in the power industry worldwide. Its rise is a boon not only to society but also to all stakeholders in the electric power industry. It revolutionizes power transmission and distribution, facilitates integration of renewables, and enables advanced data prediction and management. The modernization of grids toward smart systems improves reliability and consumption management, addressing challenges such as decarbonization, ageing assets, and energy security. This presentation explores smart grid challenges, developments, and opportunities, providing a contemporary overview of technologies, advantages, and research directions in this promising field.
